Where do we go when we sleep at night? Tumbling down dark corridors into lush, vibrant plains; drifting weightlessly along, we move through a fluid state of re-imagining and pure invention. New realities are unravelled, a patchwork of real life scenes and emotional cues. We are near enough completely at the mercy of our own imagination.
It is this picture that sets the precedent for the new full-length release by Folkestone-based THE LOVIEW. Unconventional and evocative, the album and production approach are commendable for weaving together different fragments, textures and moods. Voices come and go, blurred and hazy. Fragments of speech, chopped up samples, field recordings and live instrumentation all help to cultivate a feeling of wistful, nostalgic-for-the-future vibes. A tripped-out journey that channels the linear, untamed nature of our nightly excursions into soft sonic realisations.
Dreamtempo breaks the current mould of music for short attention spans with a carefully-crafted flow to the tracks, so the album’s whole becomes greater than the sum of it’s parts. Released via Mother Night in May on digital and compact disc.
